Role and Responsibilities:

The Director of Digital Marketing Engineering leads the development and execution of technical strategies for Dollar General’s marketing technology stack. This role is responsible for building innovative software solutions, managing engineering teams, and overseeing vendor relationships and budget management.

• Lead the evaluation, design, and implementation of marketing solutions including segmentation, campaign management, and personalization.
• Oversee all marketing engineering deliverables and collaborate with other technology teams to support engineering requests involving customer data and marketing tech.
• Define and improve engineering processes to promote operational excellence and eliminate technical debt.
• Ensure system repairs, ongoing maintenance, and documentation are completed effectively.
• Provide leadership, training, mentoring, and performance feedback to engineering staff.
• Maintain a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
• Manage the department’s budget and report on key objectives and results (OKRs).
• Negotiate and manage vendor and contractor relationships to optimize cost and service levels.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Extensive expertise in digital marketing, advertising, content management, customer segmentation, and analytics.
• Proficiency with customer data platforms (CDPs), personalization, and loyalty technologies.
• Demonstrated leadership of technical and managerial staff in high-performance environments.
• Skilled in technology design, software development lifecycle (SDLC), implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with total cost of ownership analysis and support services planning.
• Ability to manage complex, multi-product projects and cross-functional team dependencies.
• Strong communication, mentorship, and performance evaluation abilities.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or 12+ years of relevant IT experience.
• 10+ years of experience in technology, including Agile SDLC.
• Prior leadership of engineering teams of 20+ members with 8+ direct reports.
• 7+ years designing scalable, resilient, and secure technology solutions.
• 5+ years managing offshore resources.
• 5+ years working with marketing technology platforms, particularly campaign and media tools.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud-based architectures and deployments.
• 3+ years working with CRM, offer management, and customer 360 platforms.
