Planet Fitness is hiring for Assistant Gym Manager

As an Assistant Gym Manager at Planet Fitness, you will play a key role in supporting the overall operation of the gym to ensure members have an exceptional “Judgement Free Zone®” experience. You’ll assist in managing daily club activities, lead and develop staff, and help create a welcoming and motivating environment for both members and team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager in running the day-to-day operations of the club, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.

• Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and developing team members including front desk staff, personal trainers, and custodial team.

• Help maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all members, guests, and staff.

• Supervise and schedule staff to meet club needs and member demand.

• Monitor member service delivery, stepping in to resolve or escalate any member or staff concerns.

• Oversee club cleanliness, maintenance, and safety standards.

• Track and report club performance metrics such as member attendance, sales, and staff productivity.

• Act as a role model by engaging with members and leading by example.

• Provide backup support for any team member absence, including the General Manager.

Qualifications

• Proven customer service skills, ideally in a fitness or retail environment.

• Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.

• CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain shortly after hire.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Energetic, reliable, and enthusiastic with a passion for fitness and helping others.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Frequent talking and listening in person or over the phone.

• Ability to lift and move up to 50-60 pounds occasionally.

• Willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
