Role and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Store Manager helps maintain a clean, well-organized, and customer-first store environment. Working under the direction of the Store Manager, you will support store operations, supervise team members, ensure proper merchandise presentation, handle cash and paperwork, and help drive profitability while protecting company assets.

• Deliver outstanding customer service—greet shoppers, answer questions, and operate the register and scanner.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist with employee scheduling, onboarding, training, and policy compliance.
• Unpack, stock, restock, and rotate merchandise per company standards.
• Support merchandise presentation, planogram implementation, and display building.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by minimizing damages, markdowns, and scanning errors.
• Support financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, and cash handling.
• Authorize refunds, process overrides, count tills, and make bank deposits.
• Step in to manage store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
• Basic math skills including percentages and cash handling
• Ability to read and interpret operational documents and safety procedures
• Knowledge of inventory and facility control policies
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and generating reports
• Ability to operate standard retail equipment (e.g., hand-held scanners, box cutters)
• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of retail experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6 months of supervisory experience preferred
