Role and Responsibilities:
Internal Audit Managers are responsible for leading complex and large-scale financial, operational/store, and IT audits with limited oversight. The position includes planning, research, testing, analysis, reporting, and follow-up activities. Strong communication, analytical ability, project management, leadership, and adaptability are key attributes for success in this role.
- Complete audits in line with the departmental audit plan.
- Establish and communicate audit scope and resource requirements.
- Perform audit-related planning, scheduling, researching, testing, analyzing, reporting, and follow-ups.
- Identify areas for organizational improvement and recommend solutions.
- Communicate audit findings and develop collaborative action plans with departments.
- Follow up on action plans to ensure resolution and implementation.
- Develop and maintain a data analytics program to monitor key risks and trends.
- Aggregate, analyze, and visualize relevant data for departmental and organizational use.
- Lead process improvement and automation initiatives within the department.
- Partner with various departments while maintaining audit independence and resolving conflicts effectively.
- Maintain professional certifications and complete required continuing education.
- Travel as needed, including up to 25% for store or distribution center audits, meetings, and team events.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Ability to communicate project progress clearly to Internal Audit leadership on a weekly basis.
- Strong skills in leading executive-level meetings and presenting audit results.
- Professional representation of the Internal Audit department across the organization.
- Analytical capabilities for interpreting financial, accounting, and IT data to identify areas for improvement.
- General operational knowledge and familiarity with the retail industry.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficient in building respectful and collaborative departmental relationships.
- Advanced reasoning and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools such as Power BI and Alteryx.
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong customer service focus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
- Five or more years of progressive audit experience including financial auditing, compliance, and process improvement.
- Supervisory and project management experience.
- CIA and/or CPA certification is required or must be actively pursued.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
