Packaging Machine Operator

Packaging Machine Operators play a vital role in the success of FritoLay. You’ll be responsible for setting up and operating packaging machines and statistical scales to ensure our products are packed accurately and efficiently. Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate multiple packaging machines, ensuring accurate code dates, weights, and proper packaging of products

• Check products for correct dating and sealing, minimizing waste

• Maintain a clean and safe workspace around the packaging lines

• Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines, such as cleaning or replacing knives, blades, belts, and rollers

• Wear protective gear when handling chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing during product changeovers

• Inspect conveyors and scales before line startups and changeovers

• Troubleshoot common issues and make necessary operational adjustments

Work Environment:

• Operations run 24/7, so shifts may vary and include weekends or holidays

• The job is physical, requiring you to be on your feet most of the shift around heavy machinery and in a noisy environment

• Facilities are large and may have variable indoor temperatures depending on the season

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 18 years old

• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts

• Mechanically inclined with at least 1 year experience operating machines in a high-speed manufacturing environment preferred

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, with or without accommodation

• Basic math skills and proficiency in reading and writing English

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods

• Capable of climbing, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and stretching for extended periods

• Able to repeatedly lift, carry, push, pull, and handle products

• Comfortable working at heights using ladders or lifts to access different areas of the plant
