General Summary:
Accountable for supervising all store staff members and managing the efficient organization and execution of store operations, which include ordering, receiving merchandise, maintaining inventory, displaying products, facilitating sales, staffing management, and customer service.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Acquire, assess, educate, and preserve proficient workers, complying with federal and state labor regulations and organizational regulations.
- Complete performance evaluations, provide counseling services, and oversee suggestions for pay raises and promotion of staff.
- Regularly convey expectations regarding performance, behavior, and safety standards; host meetings that emphasize safety and security protocols.
- Ensure proper staff levels and supervise the opening and closing operations of the store (personally responsible for overseeing both tasks a minimum of two times weekly).
- Scrutinize profit and loss statements to identify fluctuations in sales, profits, costs, inventory shrinkage, and discrepancies.
- Manage orders to meet or exceed in-stock targets; assess ordering plans, seasonal strategies, and inventory control on a weekly basis.
- Help in the efficient placement, restocking, and storage of items by following prescribed company methods.
- Guarantee that the arrangement of merchandise reflects the company's standards by correctly utilizing fixtures, pricing strategies, and signage.
- Monitor inventory levels accurately, minimize damage occurrences, track markdowns, and document all relevant information.
- Control cashier oversight, key security, security procedures, and financial handling to ensure monetary trustworthiness.
- Spearhead customer care endeavors and manage a hygienic, safe, and systematic store atmosphere.
- Guarantee that the store is supplied with the tools needed to enhance task efficiency.
- Guarantee observance of organizational procedures, policies, and documentation prerequisites.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
- Aptitude for reading and comprehending diagrams, safety regulations, operating guidelines, and procedural handbooks.
- Adept in foundational mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and handling percentages.
- Knowing the ins and outs of managing cash, ensuring cashier trustworthiness, and implementing deposit protocols is vital.
- Skilled in navigating IBM cash register operations and compiling informative reports.
- Solid expertise in merchandise presentation and inventory administration.
- Strong oral and written communication, alongside interpersonal proficiency, are key attributes for effective engagement.
- Competent in recruiting methodologies, conducting interviews, making hiring choices, offering support, and executing terminations while ensuring adherence to legal and internal policies.
- Being informed about the regulations concerning facility, cash, and safety control policies, such as the handling of store keys and engagement in the SAFE program, is significant.
- Demonstrating a keen eye for details along with robust organizational skills.
- Capability to navigate through complex situations with diverse problem-solving approaches.
- In certain areas, individuals who are bilingual in Spanish and English may have a higher chance of being preferred.
Work Experience and Education:
- Candidates with a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification are highly preferred.
- It is preferable to have at least one year of experience in managing retail activities.
